DNC Goes Green, Chooses Tuxedo Ranch

[July 2008] - Tuxedo Ranch was happy to be a part of making the 2008 Democratic National Convention, the greenest convention in history. As the chosen supplier of the convention's USA made, environmentally-friendly, BPA-free, reusable bottles, we were able to supply an item that will help cut back on the waste of event attendees using and disposing of many one-time use drink containers. In addition, we covered the cost of offsetting the carbon emissions from shipping the bottles from our US manufacturer to the event location in Denver. These are small, but important steps in reducing the impact we all have on our planet.

We are also pleased to announce that we were chosen to handle a similar BPA-free bottle order for the 2008 Republican National Convention, held in Minneapolis this September.

Please let us know how we can promote and help green-up your next event.

Greener Shipping Now Included

[July 2008] - In the past, we offered the option to green up your shipping by purchasing carbon offsets on your order confirmations.

Now, Tuxedo Ranch is picking up the tab.

With each order, Tuxedo Ranch purchases carbon offsets from NativeEnergy. NativeEnergy's unique "help build" carbon offsets give us a direct impact in helping finance the construction of specific new renewable energy projects that need additional upfront revenues to succeed. This enables us to not only offset some of the harmful carbon emissions from producing and shipping each order, but to incorporate our social responsibility mission into our daily work.

*BTW, this does not get you or us off the hook with the environment, but it does help to reduce the harm of our consumption habits.

Tuxedo Ranch Has Moved!

We have moved our main office to a new space at the Historic Federal Building in downtown Pueblo, Colorado. This building previously operated as the main Pueblo post office, courthouse, and government offices. William Aiken, supervising architect for the U.S. Treasury Department, designed the 1897 Pueblo Federal Building along the lines of an Italian Renaissance Palazzo. Aiken designed numerous federal buildings for Washington, D.C, and for other cities, including the U.S. Mints in Philadelphia and Denver. Please update your contact info accordingly and feel free to stop by and say hello!

Tuxedo Ranch Donates Apparel to Medical Mission in Haiti

Tuxedo Ranch partnered with a 24-person surgical mission team this February who traveled to Gonaives, Haiti, a region that was devastated by Hurricane Jeanne in 2004. The surgical team, equipped with two operating rooms donated by Catholic Health Initiatives, brought much needed help to the city- Gonaives has 200,000 residents and shockingly only two doctors. Hurricane Jeanne brought flash floods and mudslides to the impoverished region that killed more than 600 Haitians in Gonaives alone.

Tuxedo Ranch was honored to help outfit the team of doctors who volunteered their time and services for the medical mission. Inherent in Tuxedo Ranch's mission is a commitment to make a positive impact on the world, and partnering with this team of doctors on their paramount mission was one effort with which we were happy to help.

Tuxedo Ranch offers Green Shipping through NativeEnergy

Tuxedo Ranch partners with Native Energy to make our shipping more environmentally friendly. As part of our commitment to the environment, we’re providing you the opportunity to offset the climate-altering CO2 emissions from shipping your purchase. You’ll help build new wind farms with Native Energy, which will displace energy from burning fossil fuels, reducing CO2 pollution on your behalf. Just check the “Ship Green!” checkbox on your order confirmation to add $2.00 to your total shipping cost for that order only, offsetting an estimated 300 lbs. of CO2 over the operating life of your wind farm.
